Our Mission

Establishing trust in the life diamond industry through independent certification, scientific rigor, and unwavering ethical standards.

What We Stand For

Independent. Transparent. Rigorous.

The International Life Diamond Association was founded on a single conviction: consumers deserve to know, without doubt, that the memorial diamond they hold contains the carbon signature of their loved one.

We do not manufacture. We do not sell. We exist solely to certify, verify, and protect.

Core Principles

Independence

ILDA is a non-profit association with no financial ties to any diamond manufacturing laboratory. Our certification decisions cannot be bought, influenced, or expedited.

Transparency

Every certified diamond's full dossier — spectroscopic data, origin chain, and grading report — is accessible through the Global Registry for independent verification.

Scientific Rigor

Our standards are built on peer-reviewed spectroscopic methods, not marketing claims. Every protocol is open to scrutiny and revision as technology advances.

What We Do Not Do

In an industry rife with conflicts of interest, our boundaries are clear:

Milestones

2024: Foundation

ILDA established by a consortium of gemologists, materials scientists, and consumer advocates. Initial funding secured through member dues and independent research grants. First Board of Directors elected.

Q2 2025: First Accreditations

Silmaril Diamonds (New Zealand) and BioGem Lab (China) receive full ILDA accreditation after 18-month audit cycles. Both facilities passed unannounced inspections with zero non-compliance findings.

Q3 2025: Global Registry Launch

Public verification system goes live, allowing consumers to independently confirm the certification status of any ILDA-certified diamond using a unique dossier number.

2026: Standards Summit>/div>

First annual gathering of member laboratories in Geneva to review and revise the Core Standard. Consumer Protection Report published, analyzing 47 complaints across 12 jurisdictions.

Global Standards, Independent Oversight

ILDA operates as an independent non-profit association dedicated to establishing transparent certification frameworks. Our governance structure ensures no single laboratory, manufacturer, or commercial interest can influence our standards or certification outcomes.

The life diamond industry spans laboratories in Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania. ILDA unifies these diverse operations under a single rigorous standard, ensuring consistency and consumer protection regardless of geography.
