Traceability Standards

Pillar I: Origin Validation

Before any carbon extraction begins, the source material must be registered in the ILDA Origin Chain System. This requires:

• Photographic documentation of the source material at the point of handover
• Cryptographic hashing of collection container seals with timestamps
• Chain-of-custody logs signed at every transfer point
• Independent witness verification for all high-value commissions

Origin validation is performed by an ILDA-certified third party, not the manufacturing laboratory itself.

Pillar II: Elemental Purity

The extracted carbon must meet strict purity thresholds before it can proceed to synthesis:

• Carbon content ≥ 99.5% by mass spectrometry
• Heavy metal contamination below 50 ppm
• Isotopic profile consistent with documented biological origin
• Independent laboratory verification at two separate facilities

Pillar III: HPHT Synthesis Audit

During the High-Pressure High-Temperature synthesis phase, ILDA monitors:

• Press temperature and pressure logs, with deviations > 2% triggering automatic review
• Seed crystal provenance documentation
• Run duration and growth rate consistency checks
• Quarterly unannounced on-site inspections by ILDA inspectors

Pillar IV: Spectroscopic Grading

The final certification requires non-destructive analysis by an ILDA-accredited gemological laboratory:

• Raman spectroscopy to confirm sp³ carbon lattice structure
• FTIR spectroscopy to detect nitrogen and boron content
• UV-Vis spectroscopy for color origin verification
• Photoluminescence mapping to identify synthetic vs. natural origin markers

All spectroscopic data is uploaded to the Global Registry, where certificate holders can access it at any time.
