ILDA Traceability Standard

Version 1.0 — Defining the chain-of-custody requirements for life diamond certification.

The Four Stages

ILDA certification requires documented, auditable evidence at every stage of the life diamond's journey.

Stage 1: Source Collection

Documentation of the biological carbon source, including:

  • Type of source material (hair, fur, plant, etc.)
  • Collection date and location
  • Collector identification and signature
  • Photographic evidence where applicable
  • Unique batch identifier assigned at collection

Stage 2: Carbon Processing

Documentation of the transformation from organic material to elemental carbon:

  • Processing facility identification
  • Processing date and batch records
  • Quality control measurements
  • Carbon purity analysis
  • Chain-of-custody transfer documentation

Stage 3: Diamond Synthesis

Documentation of the manufacturing process:

  • Growth method and parameters
  • Synthesis duration and conditions
  • Quality inspection records
  • Post-growth processing details
  • Diamond grading and characterization

Stage 4: Certificate Issuance

Final verification and documentation:

  • Complete traceability record review
  • Independent verification checkpoint
  • ILDA certificate number assignment
  • Public registry entry
  • Annual re-verification requirement
